January 21st, 2021 Movement Wide Day of Action

On January 21st, the first full day of the Biden Administration, our generation will come together in a day of action from every corner of the country and demand that Biden’s White House and Members of Congress provide direct relief to the American people, enact sweeping democracy reform, and pass a historic jobs bill to combat the climate crisis.

On January 21st and beyond, we’ll demand that the Biden Administration and Congress

1. Deliver direct relief to people, not to corporate CEOs or fossil fuel polluters.
2. Put an end to Republican minority rule and ensure a true multiracial democracy that works for all of us.
3. Create millions of good jobs, reverse systemic inequality, and put a halt to the climate crisis through a historic green recovery.

Take Action With your Local Hub

We’ll gather at Members of Congress offices, or at their homes, to make sure they hear our demands loud and clear. We will hold rallies and marches, take non-violent direct action and give our elected officials a wake up call. People power put Joe Biden in the White House and gave Democrats the edge in Congress. And now, people power is going to force our elected officials to make the change we need.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Members of Congress are Republicans who are unlikely to support our demands. Should I still hold an action targeting them?

Yes! Even if your MOC is a Republican, it’s helpful to have them on the record saying they’re against $2,000 payments to people and job creation. This can help you make a case for why they need to change their position or even be voted out one day.

What is Sunrise going to be working on after this day of action?

Right now, we have a historic opportunity to begin the decade of the Green New Deal. Our movement will spend the next few weeks building a strategy and campaign for the next few months (at least) that will be aimed at winning the bold and sweeping policies we need to transform our society. This day of action will lay the groundwork for further action and escalation- stay tuned for more information and conversation about what that future campaign will look like.
