Sunrise re-endorses Ilhan Omar for Minnesota’s 5th.
Since Rep. Ilhan Omar was first elected in 2018, making history as one of the first Muslim women to be elected into Congress, she has been an outspoken champion of the Green New Deal in the halls of Congress. Rep. Omar has been putting forward legislation to combat the climate crisis, demanding that fossil fuel corporations pay their fair share with the End Polluter Welfare Act, and has championed canceling student loan debt. Even in the face of disgusting hostility and racism, Ilhan has been strong and fought for what she believes in – we have to have her back now. Ilhan’s reelection guarantees a Green New Deal champion in the House, and in progressive leadership.
