Нам нужен «Новый зеленый курс», который будет инвестировать в наши сообщества и возместит ущерб, нанесенный столетиями загрязнения, добычи полезных ископаемых и рабства.
Давайте будем настоящими.
Yes, the climate crisis affects us all but it’s those of us who are least responsible for the problem who suffer first and worse. In the US, that’s usually Black and Latinè, poor and working class communities.
It’s us who are overrepresented in industries impacted by climate change. It’s us who have been forced to rebuild our homes and lives again and again after “once in a lifetime” hurricanes, floods, and fires take everything we struggled to build. It’s us who band together to make it through heat waves by bussing open fire hydrants, because the electric bills are too high to fathom. It’s us, who have gone without bedtime stories, because our parents spend 5 days a week working a state over because at home the crops turned dust from drought. Our homes and schools are built on top of toxic landfills, while we fail Presidential fitness tests because the neighborhood factory chemicals pollute the air we breathe and the water we drink.
The fight against climate injustice is the fight for our lives.
The good news, if we harness our collective power, and the power of our communities – we can change our reality. We’ve done it before! We’ve broken chains, fought for our right to be a part of the democratic process, and to be able to follow our dreams whether we were born here or became a part of the American fabric somewhere along the way. We can do it again…This time to win the Green New Deal that we deserve.
A GND that divests our tax money from the very systems that are killing us, provides good union jobs, and invests it in us and the places we call home. We deserve a future with clean air and water. We deserve a future with good jobs that don’t risk our lives and our spirits, and pay us enough to not just survive, but thrive. We deserve a future where the vibrant communities that we created and call home are invested in while we’re still there; not when gentrification comes to call. And to get there, we gotta organize.
