We have a strong ally in Sam Rasoul, who is running for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia as the candidate with the most experience in the race. Sam has represented one of the poorest districts in the state, House District 11 and was the first Muslim elected to the Virginia House in 2014. The son of Palestinian immigrants to the US, Sam has always been a fighter for the change he wanted to see and ran for Congress in 2008 at just twenty-seven. Since being elected to the House of Delegates, Sam has been fighting to get special interests out of the political process and even his current campaign is 100% donor-funded without any money from PACs. His record on climate speaks for itself and, after being inspired by Sunrise’s protests in 2018, he co-founded the state’s Green New Deal Coalition AND introducing the the Green New Deal Act in the House of Delegates. Sam is a bridge-builder, a fighter, and will do everything he can to fight for the most vulnerable when elected.
