Sunrise endorses Kina Collins for Illinois’ 7th
Kina Collins is a young, progressive organizer, running against a 25 year incumbent, Danny Davis.
Kina began organizing in the wake of Laquan McDonald’s murder in 2014. She organized her community and led the fight for racial justice in her district because Kina is an activist, like us! From leading that work, fighting for gun violence prevention and Medicare for All, to standing in solidarity with Sunrise Movement hunger strikers in 2021, Kina has stood with the people. She understands it takes movements and political power to transform our neighborhoods. Her district, which lives with immense inequality, deserves a congressional leader who’s lived in the poorest area of their district, shares their needs, and will fight for them in Congress.
Meanwhile, her opponent, 25-year incumbent Rep. Danny Davis, has failed to show up for his community, has cozied up to the establishment status quo, and while he rakes in corporate PAC money from Amazon, Kina is out protesting with Amazon workers. We have a choice. Corporations or people. Join us for a phonebank.
